In 1995, Suzy was working at CitiCorp and as adjunct professor at U. of Baltimore when she saw an ad for yoga and decided to try it. In her first class she realized yoga was much more than exercise: It encompassed philosophy, psychology and health and she loved it immediately. Suzy began her studies with Bob Glickstein CIYT in Baltimore then apprenticed with internationally known senior CIYT John Schumacher for 2 years in Bethesda, then traveled to Pune India to study with Mr. BKS Iyengar the yoga Master. All this led to her Iyengar Certification and opening Susquehanna Yoga Studio in Towson Maryland in 1996. (She continued studying with John as well as many other senior teachers for 18 years).
Suzy has taught top quality yoga for 27 years and founded the second female-owned and operated studio in Baltimore. Over the years, teaching thousands of students, working with over one hundred charities and schools, hospitals and Integrative Medical Centers, Suzy has brought Iyengar yoga to the Baltimore community.
In 2014 Suzy was selected to study Yoga Therapeutics in the first Iyengar Therapeutics program. Mr. Iyengar was known for his medical classes and his wish was that this knowledge be passed on by his senior teachers. Suzy studied for three years with Manuso Manos , Gloria Goldberg and Marla Apt senior Iyengar teachers at the Los Angeles Iyengar studio. She has a great sense of responsibility and gratitude for this privilege.
Suzy uses her yoga therapy training to provide private classes to students and various groups such as MS, Cancer, Parkinson’s and people with general ailments. Suzy works under the guidance of several Senior Iyengar teachers in this endeavor.
