Surya Namaskar A (Sun Salutation A) is a sequence of 12 gracefully flowing asanas alternating between forward and backward bends. This beloved sequence is the foundation of the vinyasa yoga practice and is one that you will move through multiple times throughout any vinyasa class. In this all-levels workshop, we will explore this core vinyasa sequence and work with variations and refinements to help take your sun salutations up a notch!
The workshop will guide you through:
- The yoga philosophy of Surya Namaskar
- Demonstrations of beginner, intermediate, and advanced sun salutation variations
- Clear, precise alignment for each pose in the sequence
- Incorporating props into the practice to make the sequence both interesting and accessible
- How to build your chaturanga
- Playing with the actions of jumping to transition back into chaturanga and forward from downward facing dog
